Pierre Lassonde, Chairman

was President of Newmont Mining Corporation from 2002 to 2006 and prior to that from 1982 to 2002 was a co-founder and co-CEO of the original Franco-Nevada. He is past chairman of the World Gold Council, author of "The Gold Book" and has served on many mining boards and industry committees and is recognized for his philanthropy. Mr. Lassonde holds a degree in electrical engineering from Ecole Polytechnique and an MBA from the University of Utah.

Derek Evans 

has recently been appointed to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Pengrowth Energy Trust after serviing as President and Chief Operating Officer.  Prior to that he was the President and CEO of Focus Energy Trust from the trust's inception in 2002 until its sale in early 2008. He has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas business in Western Canada, spending the majority of his career helping to build Renaissance Energy Limited in a variety of management and senior management roles.  Mr. Evans currently serves as director and chair of a private oil and gas company as well as a director of a number of not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Evans has a degree in mining engineering from Queen's University, is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta, and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Graham Farquharson

has been the President of Strathcona Mineral Services Limited since 1974. He has served on senior mining boards and industry committees and continues to serve several philanthropic organizations. Mr. Farquharson holds a degree in mining engineering from the University of Alberta, an MBA from Queen's University and is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario.

Louis Gignac 

is President of G Mining Services Inc., a private consultancy, and previously served as President and CEO of Cambior Inc. from its creation in 1986 until its acquisition in 2006. He previously held management positions with Falconbridge and Exxon Minerals and also served as a professor of mining engineering at Laval University. Mr. Gignac serves on several senior Canadian corporate boards, holds a PhD in mining engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, a Masters in mineral engineering from the University of Minnesota and a degree in mining engineering from Laval University.

Randall Oliphant

serves as Executive Chairman of New Gold Inc. He served as Barrick Gold Corporation's President and CEO from 1999 to 2003 and held various positions with Barrick since 1987.  He is on corporate and advisory boards for profit and not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Oliphant received his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1984 from the University of Toronto and his Chartered Accountant designation in 1986.

Hon. David R. Peterson, Director

is Chairman and Senior Partner of Cassels Brock & Blackwell, LLP a law firm. He served as the 20th Premier of the Province of Ontario from 1985 to 1990, was the founding chairman of the Toronto Raptors of the NBA and is Chair of Toronto's Pan American Games Bid Committee. Mr. Peterson is on several senior corporate and not-for-profit boards and is the Chancellor of the University of Toronto. Mr. Peterson holds a Bachelor's degree and LL.B from the University of Toronto, was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1969, appointed Queen's Counsel in 1980 and summoned by Her Majesty to the Privy Council in 1992.

Management

David HarquailDavid Harquail, President & CEO and Director 

led the successful initial public offering and listing of Franco-Nevada onto the Toronto Stock Exchange in late 2007. He previously held senior executive roles at Newmont Mining Corporation and prior to that was a senior executive of the original Franco-Nevada group of companies from 1987. Mr. Harquail has served on many senior mining boards, industry associations and not-for-profit committees. He holds a degree in geological engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from McGill University.

Alex MorrisionAlex Morrison, Chief Financial Officer

was previously with Newmont Mining Corporation in senior audit, information technology and operations services roles. Prior to that, he was Vice President and Controller of Homestake Mining Company, Assistant Controller at Phelps Dodge Corporation and Controller at Stillwater Mining Company. In addition, he spent twelve years in the Global Mining Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Mr. Morrison holds a BA in Business Administration from Trinity Western University and is both a CA and CPA.

Sharon DowdallSharon E. Dowdall, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary

has more than 20 years of association with the royalty portfolio and served in senior roles at Newmont Capital from 2002-2007 and as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the original Franco-Nevada from 1999-2002 and as Corporate Secretary since 1989. Prior to 1999, she was a Partner at Smith Lyons LLP. Ms. Dowdall serves on several boards and holds a B.A. (Hons) from the University of Calgary and an LL.B from Osgoode Hall, York University.

Steve AakerSteven K. Aaker, Senior Vice-President Acquisitions 

has more than 19 years of association with the Franco-Nevada royalty portfolio. From 2002 to 2007 he was a senior executive with Newmont Capital and prior to that served in senior roles related to royalty acquisitions by the original Franco-Nevada group of companies. Mr. Aaker holds a Bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Colorado.

 

Geoff WatermanH. Geoff Waterman, Chief Operating Officer 

has more than 17 years of association with the royalty portfolio, and served as Vice President, Oil & Gas, of Newmont Capital from 2002 to 2007. Prior to that he held increasingly senior roles at the original Franco-Nevada from when he joined in 1992. Mr. Waterman was previously an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand and holds a Bachelor's degree in economics from Trent University.

Paul BrinkPaul Brink, Senior Vice-President Business Development 

joined Franco-Nevada at the IPO and prior to that Mr. Brink was in the corporate development group at Newmont Mining. He previously worked in mining investment banking at BMO and in project finance at UBS. Mr. Brink holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand and a Master's degree in Management Studies from Oxford University.

 

Stephen AlfersSteve Alfers, Chief of U.S. Operations

joined Franco-Nevada at its IPO and besides legal and business roles represents the Company on mining law matters through the Northwest Mining Association. He was previously CEO of NewWest Gold Corporation and prior to that had a 20-year career with large international law firms. Mr. Alfers is a recognized expert in mining law and has advised the United Nations, foreign governments and Congressional committees. He is a graduate from the University of Virginia School of Law.
